Origin Was The Perfect Solution For This Glaswegian New Build

This 3 door bi-fold in 9910G was the perfect solution for Martin and Karen Buchanan for their new build.

The Buchanan’s were looking to move their young family to a more rural location but still within travelling distance to Glasgow city, where they both work.

Their build took almost 24 months to complete, but it’s fair to say they were ecstatic about moving into their new home when the time came.

At the time Origin visited to hear about their project, they had been living in the home for a little over 6 months. When it came to choosing their windows and front door, they decided to go with another company, however, when it came to the back garden, they were sure they were going with Origin.

“The most difficult task was choosing which Origin product to go with - whether it was for sliding or bi-fold doors.” In the end, they chose the bi-fold doors because it would allow greater flexibility for entertaining and creating a seamless indoor-outdoor feel as it’s adjacent to their open plan kitchen. Being the parents of 3 kids, bi-fold doors also provide the family with a good indoor-outdoor lifestyle which is perfect with their kids and having more room to manoeuvre and play. In addition to this, the Buchanan’s love entertaining, and bi-fold doors are great at creating more space and providing a nice transitional space.

“With Origin’s bi-fold door range, there a number of things we were able to change in order to make the doors just how we wanted them, from height, size and colours through to accessories.” The Buchanan’s decided to go with 9910G as their main door colour and opted for colour-coded hardware to match the doors. The reason behind the decision was because it would allow greater flexibility when it came to choosing their furnishings as white doors can easily integrate with any interior décor. Also, they had opted for their windows to be white in order to keep an integrated look as they felt it was best to keep all the doors and windows the same colour. 

The Buchanan’s were introduced to Origin by their local Origin premium partner, Dalziel Home Design.

Asked what was important when they were choosing their doors, Martin responded: “The product quality and thermal efficiency was of most importance.” Living in Scotland where the weather can vary drastically, they wanted something that would provide good insulation to their home when they needed it most, keeping the warmth in and the cold out whilst the products also provided longevity. Martin continued, “Origin came up on top as their guarantee is 20-years. This provides us with peace of mind because if anyone can guarantee something to last that long, they have complete confidence in their product and so we had confidence in them too.”
