Creating an Infinity Pool Effect with Origin Doors and Windows

Located on a large farm in Hampshire, this converted barn pool room is set parallel to the main house and overlooks acres of beautiful farmland. Originally a barn, the owners of this property wanted to convert the space into a functional pool room and gym area with stunning views to motivate. Choosing large fixed frame windows and a large set of bi-fold doors was a no brainer in terms of bringing the outside in, providing lots of natural light and making the most of their views. And, as a successful property developer, Mr Chard already knew the Origin brand and reputation, including the comprehensive guarantee, so chose Origin Doors and Windows for their project.

Impressive bi-fold doors to frame their pool room...

Working closely with Freedom Bi-folds, their local Origin partner, Mr and Mrs Chard opted for a 6-door set of bi-folds in a 3+3 configuration, which provided excellent accessibility to the pool from the main house. The configuration chosen by the Chards meant that they could then use the two centre doors as French Doors for easy access, whilst also having the option of opening all six for an outdoor pool feel.

Chosen in the popular colour Anthracite Grey (RAL 7016M), the Chards received their bi-fold doors on Origin’s ‘Your Lead Time, Not Ours’ promise, meaning they were able to specify a delivery date thanks to Origin’s unrivalled manufacturing times. This Anthracite Grey colour contrasts beautifully against the black outdoor cladding, creating an ultra-modern contemporary look. With the entire set of bi-folds measuring 7425mm x 2065mm, these doors are an impressive feature for the pool room, completely replacing the wall with glass.

Windows to complement...

Complementing their bi-fold doors and providing spectacular views over their farm, the Chards installed three Origin Fixed Frame Windows at the end of their swimming pool, creating an impressive infinity pool effect. The thin frames found with Origin windows mean that the couple can enjoy wider views with less profile interruption, whilst maintaining the contemporary feel achieved by the bifolds. Also chosen in Anthracite Grey, the windows draw the eye across the room providing a beautiful green backdrop with the trees and bushes from their garden.

In addition to their fixed frame windows, the couple installed Origin Casement Windows in their gym for added light and functionality. With a fixed frame and casement window configuration directly opposite their running machine, the couple can watch over their farm and enjoy the view while exercising, which some may argue is much nicer than the TV channels you often get at public gyms.

A year-round useable pool room...
